Stow Heritage Ringers Handbell Ensemble has been entertaining audiences with the beauty and artistry of English Handbell ringing since its inception in 1996. This 13-member ensemble performs with the majority of direction coming from behind the tables so we can maintain a more personal connection with our audiences. Performance repertoire includes original compositions, arrangements and transcriptions from classical to contemporary music, both secular and sacred. The ensemble performs on 6-octaves of Malmark handbells and 7-octaves of Malmark ChoirChimes®. SHR is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
We are always looking for ways to advance the repertoire for English Handbells and are excited to have commissioned and premiered "Intrepid" by Jason W. Krug (2015) and "Five, Six, Seven, Eight!" by Michael J Glasglow (2010). We were also thrilled to be asked to premier Robert Wards, "King of Kings" (AG36046).
Since the inception of SHR, we have called Stow Presbyterian Church “home.” In 1996, SPC graciously offered the ensemble the use of their 3-octave set of handbells and rehearsal space in exchange for assistance in starting a handbell program at the church. The support of Stow Presbyterian Church has been invaluable to our success and we extend our most sincere appreciation to the leadership of SPC.
